Postdoctoral Position in Condensed Matter Physics (Neutron Scattering)
Position:
Postdoctoral Researcher in Condensed Matter Physics (Neutron Scattering) – Prof. Meng Wang's Group, School of Physics, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU)
Position Overview
The research group of Prof. Meng Wang at the School of Physics and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Magneto-Electric Physics and Devices, SYSU, is seeking one postdoctoral researcher in experimental condensed matter physics. The High-Energy Inelastic Neutron Scattering Spectrometer, jointly constructed by SYSU and Spallation Neutron Source Science Center, is now operational. There is an urgent need for a researcher to utilize this spectrometer for studies on correlated electron materials. Successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Meng Wang on neutron scattering studies of strongly correlated electron materials.
Position Requirements:
- Applicants are required to observe the Constitution and laws of the country, adhere to academic norms, and abide by the rules and regulations of the university.
- Applicants should have obtained their Ph.D. degree within the last three years
- Applicants are required to possess research experience in superconductivity or magnetic materials.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in inelastic neutron scattering and large-size single crystal growth.
Compensation and Benefits:
The research group will provide additional subsidies on top of the university's basic postdoctoral salary. Outstanding applicants will be recommended for SYSU’s “Yat-sen Postdoctoral Program” and the national “Postdoctoral Innovative Talents Support Program”. During the appointment, SYSU offers on-campus talent apartments for postdoctoral researchers to rent. Additionally, SYSU has affiliated primary and middle schools on campus, providing high-quality educational resources for the children of postdoctoral researchers.
About Prof. Meng Wang's Research Group:
Prof. Wang's research group focuses on strongly correlated electron systems, including high-temperature superconductors and novel magnetic materials. In 2023, the group discovered high-temperature superconductivity in nickelate. The group actively contributed to the construction of China’s first high-energy inelastic neutron scattering time-of-flight spectrometer at the China Spallation Neutron Source, which is now open for operation. Furthermore, the group has extensive experience conducting neutron scattering experiments at facilities in the UK, Japan, Germany, France, Australia, Switzerland, etc.
The group is equipped with comprehensive facilities for sample growth and physical property measurements, including a Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS), a Magnetic Property Measurement System (MPMS), a dilution refrigerator, X-ray diffractometers, a low-wavenumber Raman spectrometer, a diamond nitrogen-vacancy center scanning microscope, a simultaneous thermal analyzer, a high-pressure optical floating zone furnace, a Bridgman single crystal furnace, various muffle furnaces, and inert atmosphere glove boxes.
